A puissance competition will be held during the annual Connemara Pony Festival at The Showgrounds in Clifden - the first time such a competition has been held at the festival.
Puissance is a high-jump competition involving a maximum of five rounds. A prize fund of €1,500 is on offer and the competition will commence on Friday August 21 at 3pm.
The competition is open to registered Connemara Ponies aged four years and over, to be ridden by a rider who has attained his/her 12th birthday on January 1 2009. The closing date for entries is Friday July 24.
The day will also feature working hunter classes with a prize fund of €2,000, a musical ride, dressage, and driving.
