Uisce Éireann advises of planned overnight outage in east Galway city tonight

Uisce Éireann has reminded people living in the vicinity of Galway’s Old Dublin Road that there will be a planned water outage in their area from 11pm tonight (Tuesday, January 21 ) until 5am tomorrow morning (Wednesday ).

Uisce Éireann crews will carry out essential repair works on a large water main on the Old Dublin Road (R338 ) which will require the water supply to the surrounding areas to be disrupted for approximately six hours.

The area set to be affected by the planned outage has been extended and now includes approximately 2,000 homes and businesses in the Renmore, Murrough and Merlin Park areas of the city.

Households in Merlin Park Woods, Coill Tíre, Ros Caoin, Lurgan Park, Ross Allta, Gleann Rua, Gleann na Rí, Belmont, Ballyloughan, Murrough, Flannery’s Hotel, Melody Court, Glenina Heights, the Bons Secours Hospital, Dun na Mara, Woodlands and the Army Barracks may experience some disruption to their water supply overnight.

Uisce Eireann has engaged with key account holders in the areas which will be affected.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Uisce Éireann's customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278, and it has also launched a free text service, providing real-time updates for local issues. Customers can sign up with their Eircode and mobile number at www.water.ie
