Galway Hooker Brewery announces closure of local production

Award-winning beer Galway Hooker has agreed a deal with Rye River Brewing Company to produce their beer moving forward.

Rye River Brewing Company are based in Celbridge, Co Kildare and thiis type of partnership has become somewhat of a trend in the craft brewing sector.

After many years of striving to produce exceptional craft beer in the heart of Galway, the challenges facing the craft brewing industry have forced Galway Hooker and the management team at Connacht Hospitality Group to make the difficult decision to cease production at our brewery and outsource it to another Irish facility.

This decision, while necessary for the sustainability of Galway Hooker, has sadly resulted in some job losses. The owners expressed gratitude to the dedicated team, "whose passion and commitment have been at the core of the operations over the last few years."

It is believed increased competition for tap space in pubs from the bigger brands and higher production costs has been a significant factor in the decision to cease local production.

Despite these obstacles, the group remain committed to the craft and to the customers who have supported them

"While local production has ended, this is not the end of Galway Hooker. Their core range of beers including the extremely popular “Galway Girl” will continue to be brewed to the same exceptionally high standards at a partner brewer and Galway Hooker fans can still enjoy those beloved beers in all the same venues they know and love," they concluded.
