Castlegar GAA Club has just launched a hugely exciting fundraiser which will see them pedal for a purpose this October.

‘Spinathon’ will see 11 teams in the club with 20 people in each group spin (virtually ) from Castlegar to Croke Park. The event will take place at their state-of-the-art GAA Indoor Arena on Saturday, October 19th from 8am to 7pm.

“We are really excited about this fundraiser. It’s a great opportunity for our players to get involved in an event like this and in doing so raise money for the future development of hurling and camogie in the club and our charity partner the National Breast Cancer Research Institute,” said Mike Connolly, Chairperson, Castlegar GAA Club.

All 220 participants taking part will be sharing their own personalised fundraising page on GoFundMe in a bid to raise funds. And everybody who donates €10 or more will be entered into a fantastic draw with lots of incredible prizes including return flights for two to Paris, hotel breaks at the Nox Hotel and Snug Townhouse in Galway, a signed Connacht Rugby Team jersey and a signed football from the Galway Senior Football Team.

“Fundraisers like this are hugely important to a club so we would really appreciate your support.” said Mike Crowe, Chairperson, Castlegar Camogie Club.

There are also plans to turn the arena into a mini village on the day with lots of food and refreshments, face painting, a Halloween corner and DJ plus a whole lot more. Galway Bay FM will also be broadcasting live from the venue.

“We’ve already received a great reaction to the fundraiser. And as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we chose the NBCRI as our charity to use the event as an information day and raise awareness about breast cancer in the community and among our members,” said Gemma Costello, Project Lead, Spinathon.
