Oranmore’s Cillian Keane (23 ) is the youngest candidate running in the Athenry-Oranmore LEA, in the upcoming local elections.

Recently graduated from UCD with a degree in Food & Agribusiness Management, Mr Keane brings youthful energy and a commitment to community well-being to his candidacy. His family is deeply involved in local sports, he understands the significance of community involvement and aims to champion the interests of his constituents.

Mr Keane’s vision for Athenry-Oranmore emphasises securing increased central government funding for Galway County Council, vital for addressing infrastructure and transportation issues, particularly in Claregalway, Oranmore and surrounding areas.

Additionally, Cillian Keane is adamant about advancing sports facilities and amenities across the LEA, recognising their vital role in fostering community spirit and well-being. Moreover, he is committed to safeguarding the agricultural sector, ensuring the preservation of small family farms that form the backbone of rural communities.

He also aims to bolster community health services in the area, prioritising the needs of elderly and vulnerable constituents and promoting accessible healthcare for all.

Mr Keane has an established record within the Fianna Fáil party. Notably, he became the youngest person elected to the Committee of 15 at the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis in 2022.

If elected, Cillian Keane promises to bring a fresh outlook and pragmatic solutions to the challenges facing Athenry-Oranmore LEA. With his energy and enthusiasm, he aims to be a voice for the people, advocating for positive change and a brighter future for all LEA residents.
