Galway Greens to hold fun eco-friendly event

Galway Greens are to hold a fun and eco-friendly event – the Galway Greens Clothes Swap, taking place this Saturday, February 17, at their Woodquay offices, with doors opening at 3pm.

Candidate for Gort Kinvara, Megan Flynn Dixon said, “sustainable fashion is where it’s at. We all need to be making a conscious decision every day to reduce our consumption and work toward a sustainable future. What better way to do this than sharing what we already have with the community around us”.

Councillor Niall Murphy said Galway Greens invites everyone to participate in this fun-filled and environmentally conscious event. The Clothes Swap is an excellent opportunity to refresh your wardrobe without adding to textile waste”.

Entry is €15 per person, creating an accessible and inclusive atmosphere for all. Donations of clean, good condition, new or near-new clothing will be accepted at the Woodquay office from 12-3pm on Thursday February 15 or Friday February 16, or from 12-3pm on the day of the event, Saturday the 17th February. Participants are invited to donate clothes or come on the day…or both.

Candidates and councillors will be on hand on the day to have a chat about the upcoming election over a cup of tea and maybe even provide fashion advice.

All funds generated from the entry fees will be directed towards supporting Galway Greens’ efforts to support candidates in forthcoming local and European elections. Green Party councillors in Galway City are Niall Murphy and Martina O’Connor, while Alastair McKinstry is on the county council and Senator Pauline O’Reily has launched her bid for the European Parliament.

Candidates are running in other constituencies in the 2024 local elections; Tuam – Islamiyah Kadejo, Athenry Oranmore – Eoin Madden, City West - Joyce Mathais and Gort Kinvara – Megan Flynn Dixon.
