iSupply has become the first print and signage company in Galway City to be awarded the ISO standard for environmental sustainability.

Investing in new equipment and processes has allowed iSupply to minimise energy use, work with eco-friendly materials, minimise waste and maximise reuse and recycling. Their new Environmental Management System means that they can continuously measure and optimise to reduce their environmental impact, offering the most environmentally sustainable options to their customers across their print and signage product ranges.

The ISO 14001 standard is a recognition that iSupply has committed to continuously reduce energy use and transition to more energy from sustainable sources. A refined waste management plan optimises reuse and recycling, while the company has also invested in machines and software to reduce raw materials and chemicals. They maximise use of sustainable materials such as paper, recycled cardboard and polyurethane free plastics, and measure and continuously reduce their environmental footprint.

Ray Donnellan is the Founder of iSupply and has been involved in the Galway print industry all his life, for over 7 decades. A native of Shop Street, he began work at the age of 13, and at 16 became an apprentice for local newspapers, progressing to Master Printer before founding isupply in 1992.

Now based in Ballybane with 24 experts in graphic design, print and signage, Ray is still involved in leading iSupply on their sustainable journey.

“I’ve been in the printing industry for over seventy years, and in that time I have seen countless changes and innovations.

“Today, as we take the next big step at iSupply towards a more sustainable future, I’m reminded that progress and innovation never cease. Receiving the ISO 14001 certification is a testament to our commitment to the environment, and to helping our customers make the world a greener place. We embrace the challenges of the future, and we’re proud to lead the way in sustainable printing and signage solutions,” he said.

But this is only the start. To drive forward our eco-friendly strategy, iSupply is forming a joint research programme with Queen’s University Belfast to find new eco-friendly materials, processes and circular life-cycles to further reduce environmental impact in the industry. Over the coming weeks we will be hiring a full time Environmental Lead to guide this work and help our customers on their own environmental programs.
