Volkswagen upgrades ID.4 and ID.5

Volkswagen Passenger Cars has upgraded its best-selling ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles, which are available to order now with prices starting from €57,430 (€53,930 after grants ).

The two electric models have received improvements to their power outputs, range, efficiency, charging capacity as well as revamped infotainment systems. In addition, all Pro and GTX versions will feature a new drive system.

Volkswagen says the high-efficiency drive offers up to 60 kW more power than previous versions together with reduced energy consumption. The combined WLTP range of the ID.4 as a versatile electric SUV is increased to up to 550 kilometres, according to WLTP, thanks to the new electric drive. The spacious ID.5 SUV coupe will have a range of up to 556 kilometres (WLTP ) on one battery charge.

Volkswagen has also made what it calls significant enhancements to the cockpit landscape of the ID.4 and ID.5. Both have received brand new latest-generation software and a new standard infotainment system with a screen diagonal that has been increased to 12.9 inches. Touch sliders for the air conditioning and volume control are now illuminated, and the multifunction steering wheel with new operating logic is also new.

Alan Bateson, brand director for Volkswagen Passenger Cars Ireland, insists the new power, infotainments and range upgrades will keep both the ID.4 and ID.5 at the top of the pack.

“While the ID.4 and ID.5 have been a resounding success, setting a new record for electric vehicle sales in Ireland, the electric vehicle sector is becoming increasingly competitive,” he said.

“Irish EV buyers have already made the ID.4 their favourite EV. These newly upgrades to the ID.4 and ID.5 are welcome additions to an already winning formula.”
