Construction on outdoor Calisthenic gym at Castlepark before Christmas says Cheevers

Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan Cheevers has welcomed the news that tenders to appoint a contractor to construct the new Calisthenic outdoor gym for Castlepark in Ballybane are closed and that construction should start before Christmas.

This will be the first of its kind in Galway City on local authority recreation and amenity facilities.

“The new equipment will cater the young and old regardless of their fitness levels and equipment will also be installed to cater for people with disabilities with great health benefits.

Cllr Cheevers says there is a similar facility at Mungret Park in Limerick that has proven very successful and says it will be a great addition to Castlepark and Ballybane.

“I believe the this will be the start of long awaited investment in the Ballybane area with more in the pipeline and the good work being done by the Recreation and Amenity team in Galway City Council,” he said.
