Blackrock Health Galway Clinic receives major accreditation for sixth time

Blackrock Health Galway Clinic has received Joint Commission International Accreditation for the sixth time. The hospital underwent a rigorous on-site survey earlier this month being assessed on the 7th Edition of the Joint Commission International standards.

Joint Commission International is the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the world.

In a statement, management expressed their delight with the news and said expanding and enhancing knowledge through collaboration ensures staff empowerment, that they learn from defects and hold a strong sense of shared accountability for patient safety.

The organisation was prepared and staff demonstrated their commitment and enthusiasm in each Department.

During the survey, a team of Joint Commission International expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to a variety of areas.

“Exceptional Care should not be the exception to the rule for in transforming our organizational processes and culture we will find value in the insights, tools and techniques we embrace,” they said.

“Being accredited by a regulatory body such as JCI, ensures we remain a high reliability organisation supporting our clinical practices and operations which help keep our patients safe while improving care and services.

“Commitment to being a highly reliable organization ensures that patients are our priority and that there is a relentless focus on Quality, Safety and Patient Experience. Staff from across the organisation continue to work together to develop and implement approaches and strategies that have the potential to improve care for the patients in our community,” they concluded

Joint Commission International’s hospital standards are developed in consultation with worldwide health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help organisations measure, assess and improve performance.
