Tribesmen rowers thrill in Seville

Tribesmen Rowing Club is celebrating success at the fifth Seville International Rowing Masters Regatta .

Battling it out for gold on the Guadalquivir River against Spanish, Italian, French, English, and Portuguese crews - and in 33 degrees - both the club's men's and women's crews prevailed in their events.

Tribesmen's first victory came in the way of the men's catagory C quadruple sculling boat when Gerry Griffin (stroke ), Paul Flannery, Peter Brady and Paul Murphy gave it their all to win by three boat lengths over their international competitors.

This, however, was the starter to the main course that was to follow, the Men's Category C eights. From the start Tribesmen powered out of the blocks to generate some serious boat speed and leave the other crews in the distance.

Coxed by Sandra Kelly the crew were Paul Murphy (stroke ), Paul Flannery, Peter Brady, Gerry Griffin, James Kilbane, Brian Clarke, Sean Ward and Pat Duane in the bow seat, the took the win in 3:03 for 1000m, a time that was not bettered in the whole competition in any race.

To add to the club's success, two mixed Tribesmen eights crews battled hard against two other international mixed crews with one Tribesmen crew also taking victory.
