Mayor welcomes commencement of Bailey Point facelift

Mayor of Galway Clodagh Higgins last evening welcomed the beginning of works on the external facade of the Bailey Point complex in Salthill.

Mayor Higgins had previously campaigned on this issue, raising it at both local and national level, including with Minister Darragh O’ Brien.

“To this point it has been frustrating that no one could intervene to address the declining nature of the facade of the building because of legal complexities relating to the ownership of public areas of the development”.

“I am so glad to finally see that today we have reached the point where scaffolding has been erected around the building and works are to commence.

“It is heartening too that the external features of the building will be completely redone. This project will take some time to complete given the nature of the works involved”.

“I’d like to credit the property owners at Bailey Point who have not been left wanting in trying to address this issue. It was a pleasure working with them. Undoubtedly this repair works on Bailey Point will have a positive impact on Salthill and it will improve the aesthetics of the overall area,” she concluded.
