Galway Rape Crisis Centre (GRCC ), with the support of Colleran’s Butchers in Mainguard Street, is asking people to host a summer social event to raise much needed funds for the organisation.

It can be a barbecue, garden party, picnic, family fun lunch, Al Fresco fine dining experience, breakfast, brunch, or any get-together.

Susan Costello, the fundraising manager of GRCC said the centre wanted to organise an event that allowed people to come together.

“We wanted people to enjoy each other’s company, whether that is with family, friends and neighbours. It is up to each person to decide what suits them best. It is also a great way for companies to have a social event with their staff after spending so much time working remotely. ‘Come Dine With Me For GRCC’ allows people to reconnect and have fun while raising funds for the vital services that Galway Rape Crisis Centre provides in our community.”

She said she was delighted that Colleran’s Butchers has partnered with the GRCC as its main sponsor. “They have helped make this fundraising event a reality and we are truly grateful for the support and genuine interest they have shown in our work. We would also like to acknowledge the support of Reality Design, our brand sponsor for the marketing materials and website, Advertees, and the local businesses whose chefs have generously shared their culinary knowledge for our Tasty Tuesday recipes.”

Galway Rape Crisis Centre (GRCC ), which was set up in 1984, has grown to become the second largest rape crisis centre in the country. A core part of its work is providing short and long-term counselling to adults and adolescents who have experienced rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and other forms of sexual violence.

The organisation is encouraging people to sign up now at www.grccdinewithme.com to receive a “Come Dine With Me For GRCC” pack for €15.
