New balls please — Tennis club and Westside to be venues as future of councillors is decided

Galway goes to the polls tomorrow to elect 30 county councillors, 15 city councillors, and three MEPs, while Saturday and Sunday will be taken up with counts, elections, and eliminations.

On Saturday morning, all the boxes from all the count centres will be brought to Leisureland in Salthill where they will be organised and distributed.

The votes for the Galway County Council will then be brought to the Galway Lawn Tennis Club in Salthill while the votes for the Galway City Council will be brought to the Westside Community Centre.

There will also be town council counts in Loughrea, Ballinasloe and Tuam.

Voting is likely to take a long time with the first few seats for either local authority being decided on Saturday, and the remainder on Sunday.

Counting of the votes in the EU elections will take place in Castlebar, Co Mayo
