Galway Atlantaquaria appeals for work of local artists

Aquarium is seeking artists who create marine, freshwater, or environmentally inspired art pieces

Galway Atlantaquaria in Salthill, is appealing to local artists to submit ideas for work to be put on display in Ireland’s largest native species aquarium.

As part of its plans for 2022, the aquarium is seeking artists who create marine, freshwater, or environmentally inspired art pieces, for display in the front window of the aquarium.

The display space is c1m wide, and 2m high, and art pieces will be left on display for a one month period. The atlantaquaria will also share information about the artist through its website and social media platforms. Each artist selected will be given a randomly selected month, with 10 artists being selected to display over 2022.

“Your work could be seen by visitors to the aquarium, and people walking along Salthill Promenade at no cost if you are selected as one of the artists who will be showcased in 2022,” said Dr Nóirín Burke, director of education, at the Galway Atlantaquaria.

Interested artists should complete the Expression of Interest Form by February 25. Successful artists will be notified by March 4.
