Spiddal based publisher shortlisted for Irish language book awards

Five titles from Futa Fata nominated in the Oireachtas na Gaeilge Publishing Awards

Futa Fata, the An Spideal based publisher, has had five of it’s titles shortlisted for the Oireachtas na Gaeilge Publishing Awards.

Futa Fata has been nominated within a number of categories in the Oireachtas na Gaeilge awards. The awards celebrate excellence in Irish language writing. The winners will be announced in October.

Two books have been nominated in the Gradam Réics Carló award strand which celebrates excellence for younger readers: Cluasa Capaill Ar An Rí by Bridget Bhreathnach, with illustrations by Shona Shirley Macdonald, and Go Ceann Scríbe, a contemporary novel about friendship and marital breakdown from the point of view of a young teenager, by Ailbhe Nic Giolla Bhridge.

The company has also been nominated in the Gradam de Bhaldraithe strand for translation both for adults and children, with the work of Máirín Nic Con Iomair and Feaghas Mac Lochlainn.

In the Gradam Uí Shuilleabháin strand, for excellence in writing for adults, Futa Fata, via its imprint for adults, Barzaz, has been nominated for Madam Lazare, by the award-winning author Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin.
