Eight Galway retailers have been included in round three of the Covid-19 Online Retail Scheme, which will provide funding to help strengthen their online presence and generate new business.
The Galway businesses chosen are Bellababy Ltd; Evergreen Healthfoods Ltd; Furbo Sandfield Ltd, trading as McCambridge's of Galway; Greenes Hardware & Farm Supplies Ltd; Omg Entertainment Ltd; Oyster Motors Ltd, trading as Jody's Spar Craughwell; Sundrive Pharmacy Ltd trading as McSharrys Pharmacy; The American Candle Company Ltd, trading as Yankee's.
Under the latest round of the scheme, retailers will receive grants worth on average €37,500 to help cover up to 80 per cent of the cost of expanding their online presence, with the aim of attracting new and repeat customers.
The announcement has been welcomed by Galway Fine Gael senator, Seán Kyne [pictured above]. “The allocation will help these Galway retailers compete with larger, global retailers,” he said. “The success of local businesses is not only vital to our economy but also to ensure that our city, town and village centres thrive."
