GLUAS organised event will hear speakers from the USA, UK, and Ireland

The case for a light rail system for Galway will be put forward by speakers from Britain, the USA, and Ireland at a special webinar to be held this month.

Organised by the GLUAS Very Light Rail Committee, the webinar, VERY LIGHT RAIL for Galway, will be held on Tuesday April 20 at 7pm.

Speakers include Nicola Small of Coventry City Council; Bradley Reed of TIG/m of California; Nick Mallinson of Black Country Innovative Manufacturing Centre; and Dave Andrews of Bath Trams. The event will run for one hour and include a question and answer session.

Galway-Coverntry co-operation

GLUAS has been cooperating with a team on Coventry City Council and a research team in Warwick University, who are developing VLR for launch in Coventry city. Testing is about to start there later this year.

“The webinar will inform you of the very real improvements a Very Light Rail system can bring to Galway and to aspects of our lives and how it will contribute in a meaningful way in addressing the problems of congestion and climate change,” said GLUAS chair Brendan Holland.

Admission to the webinar is free but places are limited. To register go to https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/galway-very-light-rail-webinar-tickets-146997446319. For more information email [email protected].
