Galway Feminist Collective launch fundraiser for foodtruck and library

Funds will go to support new cooperative food business and social enterprise called Stirring the Pot

Galway Feminist Collective has launched a crowdfunder to support its new cooperative food business and social enterprise - Stirring the Pot: Galway Feminist Food Coop.

Stirring the Pot will offer healthy vegan and vegetarian meals from around the world, at affordable prices, and made by local cooks. The food trailer will also double up as a mini feminist library where people can borrow books and zines written by women, transgender, and gender non-conforming writers.

"Stirring the Pot will create meaningful opportunities of work and autonomy for those involved in it and connected to it,” said GFC member Maria Heschl. “We want to source our food from local, small scale, farmers and growers. From those ingredients we want to prepare healthy food for the local community and create a space where people can meet, eat, learn, read, connect, and break down cultural divides.”

The GFM already has a mobile catering trailer, and donations to the crowdfunding campaign will allow for the trailer to be renovated and fitted out; allow for supplies to be bought, and overall will “help get the business going”.

"Your support will help get the project on the road,” said GFM’s Jacinta Fay. “Any contribution big or small will be really appreciated."

The group will be sharing the progress of the project on its social media accounts (Instagram: stirringthepot_galfemfoodcoop; Facebook: stirring-the-pot-GFC; Twitter: @StirringThePotG and @GalwayFeminist ). It plans to have the business running by the summer.
