The Aygo X Prologue bold and distinctive new model is built on the A-segment’s leading style icon position
Toyota says it is "practicality for the free-spirited", offering "adventure ready features" that include rear skid plate houses, a bicycle-holder mount, and an action camera housed in the door mirror
Described by Toyota as a "bold and lively car with engaging driving dynamics for the style-savvy driver", the Aygo X Prologue will boast bi-tone colours with fiery paint effect.
Committed to the future of the A segment, Toyota tasked its European design headquarters near Nice on the French Côte d’Azur, ED² to define and imagine what the A-segment could be for Toyota customers by fulfilling their needs and their desires - and, to prove that "entry-point" cars can still lead with stand-out design. As result assistant chief designer Ken Billes says it has "demonstrated that a small car can still be big and bold in personality”.
Since the Aygo's launch in 2005, Toyota says fun and playfulness has always been at the heart of Aygo. Now, it claims to have added "an additional pinch of hot spice” appealing to new Toyota customers who are "demanding flair, distinctiveness, and the chance to make a personal statement".
The Aygo X prologue has an added boldness. Bumping up the size of the wheels, the driver enjoys a higher eye point for greater visibility, as well as improved clearance for whatever the road may bring.
Whether from front, rear or side, the stylish design of Aygo X prologue stands out. A bold bi-tone execution creates a unique graphic profile that grabs attention in the street by emphasizing the car’s readiness to leap forward into action. A new wedged roofline also increases the dynamic feeling for a more aggressive sporty image. While at the front, high-tech lamps hug the upper hood to form a wing-like shape. Lower to the ground, the large grille, fog lamps and skid-plate, all building on the hexagon theme, show that this is a car ready to go. Anywhere.
An integrated roof rack accentuates the vehicle’s profile, as well as creating a visual link with the hexagon tail lamps, a subtle reminder of the Aygo DNA.
The colours of emotions
To bring the “spicy” concept to life, certain ingredients were looked at - the top four being chilli, ginger, wasabi and black pepper. Spiciest of all is “chilli” so in the Aygo X prologue, a fine sprinkling of blue metallic flake into the paint mix - the result is “Sparkling Chilli Red.”
“Everybody deserves a cool car. When I look at the Aygo X prologue, I’m really proud to say that ED² Team created exactly that. I’m excited to see it revolutionising the segment," says Ian Cartabiano, president ED².
Toyota Ireland CEO Steve Tormey says The Aygo X prologue is a bold and well-defined model which will be a great addition to the A- segment market in Ireland.
"We’re delighted to unveil this innovative creation, which lives and breathes our ethos of “no more boring cars”. A model built for adventure, with a distinctive design; this car will be perfect for customers who look to explore the world around them in style.”
