Tuam special needs school ‘a ray of hope’ says Canney

New school building represents a €6 million investment in special needs education in north Galway

The new special needs school in Tuam, which is nearing completion, will be “a beacon of hope” for families throughout the north Galway region.

This is the view of Independent Galway East TD, Seán Canney. “With the present Covid restrictions and continued uncertainty with special needs education this project is a sign of good things to come for the students and their families,” he said.

The special needs school in Tuam currently caters for 34 pupils. However the new building, which represents a €6 million investment in special needs education in north Galway, will be, said Dep Canney, “a top class, modern, spacious educational facility for the benefit of many”. The building is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

“The project has been a long journey for students, parents, staff, and the board of management and I want to congratulate all involved,” said Dep Canney. “I also want to compliment the building contractor, Paul Carey of Carey Developments, and his team, for delivering this fine facility in time and to the highest standards.”
