Local community and voluntary organisations to benefit from extra Covid funding

More than €700,000 to benefit disability services, community development, youth services, etc, in the city

Cancer Care West, Croí, Galway Hospice, COPE Galway are among the local community and voluntary organisations set to benefit from an allocation of an extra three quarters of a million euro.

The funding, totalling €747,038, is being provided from the Covid-19 Stability Fund, administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development, and supports community and voluntary organisations impacted by Covid-19.

'Immensely positive impact'

Fine Gael senator Sean Kyne has welcomed the news that more than 30 voluntary organisations in Galway will benefit from this funding. “Covid-19 has made this year exceptionally challenging for all organisations from local businesses to community groups, charities and service providers," he said. “The funding will have an immensely positive impact on disability services, services for older people, community development, youth service and mental health services."
