Back special campaign to save Dublin Zoo

Galwegians are being asked to back a special campaign by to save Dublin Zoo.

The society is running an online raffle until December 11 with all proceeds going to Dublin Zoo which is struggling in Covid-10 times.

Zoological Society's vice chairperson, Roisin Rose, says Dublin Zoo is a vital part of society, but is under threat.

"It plays a key role in global conservation, and in the breeding programmes of many different animals, keeping their populations from extinction.

"Our Zoological Society is dedicated to conserving native wildlife, and is constantly striving to promote its protection, as is Dublin Zoo. However, this pillar of the Irish nation is under threat."

Due to Covid-19 charity events must take place online, and as a result the society is hosting an online raffle with the winner receiving €50 Dublin Zoo voucher or a Dublin Zoo adoption pack for an animal of their choice.

Entry is €4 and each entry is for one raffle ticket. The society says a winner will be drawn. from the donors’ names..

The fundraising will be run through the justgiving website to ensure its safety.
