NUIG SU to distribute reusable masks to students

'This is just one of the important ways we can all join the fight against Covid-19'

As students return to classes at NUI Galway this morning to start the 2020/21 academic year, the university's Students’ Union is distributing free face masks on campus.

NUI Galway has supplied three high quality, reusable, washable masks for every student, which the SU will be giving out over the next three weeks, starting with First Year Orientation this week.

'We encourage all students to wear face coverings to help stop the spread of Covid-19 and look after each other'

The SU has partnered with the university to ensure all students will have a chance to get their masks which will be available for collection from the Aula Maxima in the Quadrangle building on campus until Friday October 9. After that, masks will be available from the SU Office. The university will be distributing masks to all NUIG staff members.

"We encourage all students to wear face coverings to help stop the spread of Covid-19 and look after each other," said NUIG SU president Pádraic Toomey. "This is just one of the important ways in which we can all join the fight against the spread of Coronavirus.”
