Cannon urges parents to submit school bus scheme applications

An East Galway TD is urging the county’s parents to get School Bus Scheme applications in for the forthcoming school year by April 24.

Minister for the Diaspora and International Development Ciaran Cannon said that while the current situation has created much uncertainty, it is important that families continue to plan as best as possible for the coming months.

Minister Cannon said; “The school bus scheme is a major support to working parents which gives the assurance that their children can be safely taken into school and home and I would urge parents and guardians in Galway to ensure they get their applications in for the forthcoming school year by Friday April 24.

“It is important to note that applications only need to be made on behalf of new pupils, for instance, pupils starting primary school or moving to post-primary school, or those who are changing home address or school.

“The details of all existing pupils who currently hold tickets are already recorded and the email address provided in the registration process previously is the one used to contact families each summer when it is time to pay the school transport charges for the coming school year.”

Minister Cannon added; “While the current situation has created much uncertainty, it is important that families continue to plan as best as possible for the coming months and parents can apply online at https://schooltransport.buseireann.ie/account/login?ReturnUrl=%2F.”
