An East Galway TD has welcomed confirmation that Tuam`s new NCT Centre is to employ six staff.

Minister for the Diaspora and International Development Ciaran Cannon has said that the new centre will open in the Spring and will bring major additional business to Tuam.

“The two-lane centre has already been built, but its interior has yet to be fully equipped. I have also been informed that when the centre opens in the Spring, it will serve the wide catchment area of North Galway, South Mayo and part of Roscommon,” he said.

“As a result, it will bring new footfall to Tuam and the surrounding district when operational. In addition it will also remove the burden from local people of having to travel further afield to have their car tested”.

“This new centre will be a very welcome addition to public services in Tuam and North Galway,” Minister Cannon added.
