Fantasy Football round 12 preview

In association with Monroes

Another round down and Liverpool look like they are in no mood to relinquish their best chance of winning a league title in 30 years. The Reds managed to complete another comeback with a late win against Aston Villa on Saturday thanks to a 94th minute effort by Sadio Mané.

Elsewhere Leicester and Chelsea continued their fine form with victories over Crystal Palace and Watford respectively. Spurs and Arsenal are still misfiring with Man United's mini-winning run coming to an end with poor 1-0 loss against Bournemouth on the south coast.

In Fantasy land, it was a great week for managers with the average points total ending at 53. So let's look at how the game week 11's action affected the Advertiser Tribal League table in association with Monroe's Tavern.

Top three

1 Reggie Red - Reginald's Reds - 688

If there ever was a week to sit back and say 'that was a good week' then it was game week 11 for Reginald's Reds. The league's top side picked up a whopping 96 points thanks to eight goals and three clean sheets. Manager Reggie Red's philosophy is all about attack where he expects his players to chip in with goals no matter their position. Their frontline is arguably the most potent in the entire with Sergio Agüero, Jamie Vardy, and Raúl Jiménez leading the charge. Sadio Mané and John Lundstram are playing their part in front of goal too with three goals between them this weekend. Can anyone stop the Reds?

2 - Kieran Ryan - TheDodgyTickers - 686

Matching the league leaders stride for stride are TheDodgyTickers who also garnered a mega total of 96 points. Kieran's Ryan's men trail The Reds by only two points as they hunt for top spot. Çaglar Söyüncü, John Lundstram, and Diego Rico are the rock solid back three who refused to allow any goals to be conceded at the weekend, with the former two also getting their names on the scoresheet. Captain Sadio Mané brought home 24 points for The Ticks with the frontline of Tammy Abraham, Sergio Agüero, and Jamie Vardy all finding the back of the net for Ryan. It looks like it will be a titanic tussle between The Ticks and The Reds for the league title.

3 - Ben O'Keefe - Ben's Bashers - 679

Dropping to third is Ben's Bashers despite scoring a respectable 64 points at the weekend. The clear area of weakness for Ben O'Keefe was the midfield which saw no goals and only one assist from John McGinn. On a positive note, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jamie Vardy got themselves goals with the three defenders of Lewis Dunk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and John Lundstram pulling in 35 points. Two high-scoring midfielders is what the Bashers need to get themselves back to the top of the table.

Top tips

It is a new month and it is the final game week before the season's third international break so who are the players who are going to put a smile on Fantasy managers this weekend?

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City - £9.4 million ) v Arsenal

With seven goals in five league outings, it is safe to Jamie Vardy is having a party. The England international is on fire for the Foxes who are having an excellent season, sitting pretty in third place. On Saturday, Brendan Rogers' men host struggling Arsenal at the King Power Stadium. The north London outfit have only one win in five league matches and with relations looking increasingly fractured between players, there is only one result I can see from this clash. Leicester to win with Vardy to score.

Lys Moussat (Sheffield United - £4.9 million ) v Spurs

When the draw for league fixtures was made in the summer, no one who would have believed Sheffield United would be above Spurs in the table when this fixture came around. The Blades are in sixth position with Champions League runners-up Spurs sitting in 11th after a tough start to the term. Lys Moussat has been one of the many success stories for the south Yorkshire side this year. The French U21 international has hit form with two goals and three assists in his last three matches. Chris Wilder's men travel to Spurs on Saturday afternoon. I believe there will be goals in this match with Moussat involved on the scoresheet. Get him in your team.

Teemu Pukki (Norwich City - £6.8 million ) v Watford

I know what you are all thinking - Teemu Pukki? What? The Finnish international has failed to hit the back of the net in six league appearances after exploding into life at start of the season with six goals in five outings. But hear me out, folks. On Friday night the Canaries host bottom of the table Watford at Carrow Road. The Hornets have been very poor this season and if it were not for the brilliance for Ben Foster, the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last weekend would have a helluva lot worse. Watford's defence is the third worst in the league, again it would have been worse if it were not for their goalkeeper, but Foster will not be able to stop another defeat this weekend. I expect Pukki to give the defence a torrid time in east Anglia and end his goal drought.
