Mayo wins the style stakes at g Hotel

Mayo’s Michelle Manning was crowned g Best Hat and Cork’s Dermot Miller named most g Dapper Gent at The g Hotel Ladies' Day after party.

Wearing a bespoke turban style headpiece created by award winning Galway milliner Caithriona King, Michelle Manning immediately took the eye of the judges at the g hotel, giving her a double Ladies' Day celebration for Galway Race Week.

Michelle Manning’s look for Ladies' Day was both eye catching and striking in a blue and navy creation which immediately made a statement, with her headpiece complementing her dress, which featured puffed sleeves and an on-trend ruffle hem.

The g Hotel’s Ladies' Day judging panel included last year’s Best Hat winner, the current Miss Ireland Aoife O Sullivan, and Cork milliner Tina Coyne of Elizabeth Christina Design, along with Ireland’s leading fashion editor Bairbre Power.

“There’s always a stunning array of sophisticated Ladies' Day fashion at the g Hotel. It’s the home of fashion and millinery during the Galway Races,” said Miss Ireland, Aoife O Sullivan. “The competition and standard was extremely high, Michelle’s hat stood out for its design and impact in the g, and of course craftmanship and innovation by milliner Caitriona King. It’s wonderful to see her have a double success on Ladies Day at the Galway Races.”

Miss Ireland Aoife O'Sullivan passed on her crowning mantle of Best Hat to Michelle Manning, which included a bespoke creation from renowned milliner, Elizabeth Cristina Design. The prize fund of €5,000 also included €1,000 cash prize and a stay at the hotel’s Linda Evangelista Suite.

Meanwhile, the judges were impressed with the number of dapper gents, and in partnership with Hanley and Co of Galway, the Dapper Gent title went to Dermot Miller from Cork who caught the judge’s attention with an eye-catching purple velvet blazer which he wore over a tweed waistcoat and trousers, complemented by a statement tie. The prize included a stay at the g hotel and Strellson branded suit, shirt and tie with Gordon Brothers shoes from Hanley & Co. Dermot entered the competition with his twin brother Daniel.
