St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union have announced a brand new giveaway in line with its promotion of the use of Gaeilge in the form of our Gaeltacht Giveaway. This new offering gives one second level student a contribution of up to €1,000 to attend a Gaeltacht College of their choice.

Since last year, St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union has made a conscious effort within the Credit Union/Comhar Creidmheasa, to begin embracing the Irish language in its day to day business and have become official partners/Cairde of Gaillimh le Gaeilge.

With Galway’s designation as a Bilingual City, St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union felt it was important to embrace and encourage our native language. To date, staff have been keen to get involved. They have participated in Irish classes and have learned key phrases to use in everyday dealings at the counter with further projects underway.

Each year, St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union run a bursary competition, UniCash, for Leaving Certificate Students to win one of nine bursaries of €1,500 each so they felt our Gaeltacht Giveaway was a natural addition to helping students further their education but this time in the Irish language.

The Gaeltacht Giveaway is open to all second level students once they hold an account or open an account before the close of the competition.

Applications can be made through www.sacu.ie or applications can be picked up in any branch. The closing date for the Gaeltacht Giveaway is 5pm on March 29. Terms and Conditions apply and full details on the giveaway and how to become a member are available on the website.
