Monday (October 1 ) was the start of Road Safety Week and yesterday marked Tyre Safety Day.
There will be heightened awareness of both road safety and tyre safety during this week.
The RSA will be running a series of initiatives which are listed on its website at this link: http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Road-Safety/Campaigns/Current-road-safety-campaigns/Irish-Road-Safety-Week-2018/
The Irish Tyre Industry Association began a national campaign for the week on RTE advertising that its members will provide free tyre pressure and tread depth checks.
The advice is to call to any ITIA member tyre centre, or any other good tyre retailer, and avail of a free check on the condition of tyres.
Remember, they are your only contact points with the road travelling on all kinds of roads, in all kinds of weather conditions at legal speeds of up to 120km per hour.
The ITIA is urging the public to log on to the website: ‘www.itia.ie’ to find listed dealers.
