The Yard — chic new social hub at The House Hotel

Monday July 30 will mark the opening of Galway’s newest social hub, The Yard Kitchen/Bar @ The House Hotel, guaranteed to be a hit with both guests and Galway locals. Located in Galway’s well known Latin Quarter, The House Hotel is excited to bring this new concept to Galway just in time for the Galway Races.

Chic and understated, The Yard Kitchen/Bar is an all-day destination, with a comfy lobby to lounge, and an all-day kitchen and bar to catch up, socialize, mingle and party. Share small plates and taste the many flavours the fusion menu has to offer. They will be serving the finest cocktails in town too.

“This new space is individual and bespoke, taking inspiration from small Parisian boutique hotels,” says Margaret Jenkins, General Manager.

The name draws inspiration from the original roots of Brennan’s Yard and its Galway tribal heritage.

Perfect for an intimate gathering, a catch-up with friends or a special occasion, the menu offers an array of daring flavours and exquisite presentation whether it be for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Serving fusion plates, ideal for sharing, the menu is designed to graze over a drink or two and relax in a friendly atmosphere where there is no pressure to move. A space to connect in person and virtually, with the comfort to work or play.

The menu has been created with the best of ingredients, high-quality Irish meats, locally sourced vegetables and local fresh seafood. Everything, from the sauces to desserts to cocktails are made fresh’ in-House’ and The Yard offers a wide selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.

Tantalise your taste buds with some of their daring dishes like Gin and beetroot cured salmon, avocado puree, brown bread croutes making up a diverse menu of temptations, and comfort classics with a twist such as a bag of Nachos with the usual suspects, sure to be a Yard favourite.

“Recent food trends have seen a movement towards tasting more variety and this is what inspired us to move to a small plates concept,” said Margaret Jenkins. We’ve worked with some of Ireland’s leading wine experts to create a varied wine menu and The Yard team will be on hand to entice you to try something new. Our ethos is, nights out are precious – spend yours wisely!

“We serve the best coffee and cocktails Galway has to offer around the clock, so whether it’s an espresso shot or Martini, our artisan handcrafted Fonté bean is sure to give you to kick you desire.

It is safe to say their Head Cocktail bartender, Aileen Cunningham, has put her creative spin on this menu.

Bringing cocktails to a new level, Aileen has created some diverse recipes, from Move to the Beet, crafted with Monkey 47, Longueville Apple Brandy, beetroot, Yard chili-choc bitters, and Lavender foam, to Siar an Bóthar, which uses all local products including Herterich’s bacon infused Jameson Black Barrell, Connemara wash, PX Sherry, heather honey, and lavender smoke.

“We’re driven by our passion for making the perfect cocktails. Our drinks menu is curated in-House and will be updated each season to ensure each cocktail’s utmost freshness. Your experience is important to us, so our bartenders will tweak any classic cocktail to best suit your palate”, said Aileen Cunningham.

The House Hotel, which is part of the Choice Hotel Group, has injected a signature style into the new opening, creating a casual yet stylish Kitchen and Bar. The Yard is the new place to be seen in Galway and is ideal for locals looking for a casual dining experience and a sophisticated setting for that special occasion, be it your work night out, 30th or 40th birthday party, or an engagement celebration.
