Galway FC take on UCD in buoyant form

While few would dispute the gap in quality which exists between the SSE Airtricity League premier and first divisions, Galway FC will still head for the capital tomorrow hopeful of causing an FAI Ford Cup surprise against UCD.

The students remain a team capable of passing the ball with commendable accuracy, but there is sufficient talent in the Galway ranks to cause them problems. Obviously the fact that the fixture is Galway's fourth away game in a row will have an impact following recent trips to Cobh, Wexford, and Dublin in the past fortnight.

Medtronic footballers have been crowned All Ireland senior football champions for the first time after a convincing 3-15 to 1-13 win over the Cork Garda in Pearse Stadium.

Medtronic had many heroes on the evening, but none more so than Colm O’Donovan who finished with a tally of 2-6. The Cork men, who had Kerry supremo Aidan O’Mahoney in their ranks, had no answer to Medtronic’s teamwork throughout the contest
