Galway Kettlebell Club won eight medals at the Leinster Kettlebell Championships in Ballinteer at the weekend.
Nine athletes from Galway competed on the day, coached by Sarah Smith, who took silver in the professional division, lifting a 24kg kettlebell in the long cycle discipline,

Connacht Rugby fans will not get to see Pat Lam's team in action at the Galway Sportsground before the start of this season's Celtic League.
Connacht have only two pre-season fixtures planned this season and both are away from home - against Clermont Avergne in France, and Wasps in London. It had been hoped that Newcastle Falcons would reciprocate Connacht's visit to England last season, but it is understood the English premiership side is not willing to travel.

Galway rowers have been selected to compete at the under-23 World Rowing Championships in Italy next month, from 23rd to 27th July.
Fionnain McQuillan-Tolan, who currently rows with Grainne Mhaol RC, Richard Bennett, Robert O'Callaghan, and Kevin Neville, all from the NUIG Boat Club, will contest the men’s four event at the championships in Varese which run from Julu 23 to 27.

Several of Galway’s best athletes raced at the Le Cheile track meeting in Kildare on Friday over a series of middle distance events.
Galway City Harrier’s 800 metre star Alanna Lally secured a World Championship Junior standard with a run of 2.08.49 in the women’s international event. Keith Fallon of GCH ran a good time of 1.53.41 in the men’s 800m, while Craughwell’s Peadar Harvey ran 1.58.6 and Damien O Boyle was just outside two minutes in the same event. Jamie Fallon of Craughwell ran a personal best of 4.00.40 in the 1500 metres.
