Christmas truly came early for Liam Mellows hurlers when they deservedly won their first county senior hurling championship in almost half a century, beating 2014 and 2011 champions Gort on Sunday afternoon in Pearse Stadium.

Galway champions Corofin will face off against Mayo champions Castlebar Mitchels this Sunday in what promises to be an intriguing Connacht senior club final in Tuam Stadium (2pm).
Last year in the Connacht semi-final, Corofin beat Castlebar after extra-time in McHale Park before going on to defeat St Brigid's in the final.

Moycullen will need Áine McDonagh, Catherine Connaire, Evvie Lowdnes, Jean and Molly Hynes, the Carters, the Davorens, and Laura and Aisling Ni Chorcrain to be in good form to see off the Cork side.
