A call has been made for the speedy completion of the options appraisal for a new public hospital in the grounds of Merlin Park Hospital in the wake of ongoing overcrowding and escalating waiting lists at University Hospital Galway.

Local shows to benefit from funding

A number of agricultural shows in County Galway will receive funding, allocated by Minister for Rural & Community Development, Michael Ring.

Among the shows which have been allocated €5,000 funding are Ballinasloe, Glenamaddy and Mountbellew shows in East Galway, in addition to Castlerea, Elphin, Roscommon and Strokestown shows in County Roscommon.

A new extension to Galway Free Wi-Fi, which officially opens this week, sees it expand from 13 to 35 access points, confirming Galway as Ireland’s largest Wi-Fi connected city.
