Staff in Atlantic Technological University (ATU) are this week celebrating a win at the Education Awards 2022, where the university's two year Master of Science in design and innnovation was named Best Masters Programme.
Delivered from the ATU Galway campus, the part-time multidisciplinary course was first offered two years ago in response to a number of reports including the National Planning Framework (NPF) Project Ireland 2040, which sets out the priorities for shaping the future growth and development of Ireland and the west and northwest region. The NPF stipulates that increasing innovation capacity “will depend on creating places that can foster enterprise and innovation and attract investment and talent”. The enterprise agencies forecast that the number of research and development (R&D) personnel needed in the enterprise sector will increase significantly in the next number of years.
