iConnect acquires Screenway with the creation of 20 jobs

iConnect, Ireland’s Apple approved premium reseller has announced that it has acquired Galway company Screenway to roll out its Education arm in Ireland. The deal will see iConnect retain ten employees and create twenty new full-time Education Specialists positions expanding out of Galway and operating nationwide.

Topform, the Gort-based makers of creative work surface solutions, has been named as a finalist in the year’s Small Firms Association Awards in the Manufacturing Category, sponsored by competitive energy provider Energia.
The announcement was made at the SFA Awards Showcase in Dublin Castle last week. The awards will be presented by awards patron, An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, TD, to all category winners and the overall winner at a Gala Event in March 2015.

The Telecommunications and Internet Federation (TIF), the IBECgroup that represents the telecoms sector, today called on companies and individuals in the West to engage in the Department of Communications consultation on high speed broadband, which closes next Thursday February 12. Last year, the Department announced a major initiative to subsidise a high speed broadband (30Mbps) network to ensure every home and business is covered. To benefit, it's important that people check to see if they are covered by the existing plans.

Ryanair have this week celebrated carrying 13m customers at Shannon Airport since April 2000, in a year of rapid traffic growth at Shannon and other Irish airports, thanks largely to the decision of Finance Minister, Michael Noonan, to scrap air passenger duty.
Ryanair launched 10 new routes from Shannon as a direct result of the travel tax being scraped and will deliver an additional 300,000 customers at Shannon this year, a rise of 77 per cent to 750,000 p.a. in total, which will support 750 “on-site” jobs.
