A fantastic family day out is promised at the Mountbellew Agricultural Show this Saturday, August 22, at ATU Mountbellew Agricultural College.

The show will feature all the traditional favourites, including the highly regarded All-Ireland Pair of Galway Ewe Lambs Class, a long-standing highlight of the Mountbellew Show.

The Cattle Section will include the Young Handlers Under-16 Competition, with €350 in prize money and the Bernie Mannion Perpetual Cup, kindly sponsored by the Mannion family. The Connacht Pedigree Interbreed Male Calf Championship offers €1,000 in prize money, sponsored by O’Meara’s SuperValu, Mountbellew. Numerous valuable classes across the cattle, sheep and horse sections are supported by generous sponsors including The Malthouse, Briggs Drapery, Miland’s Garden Centre, Arrabawn, Mary Smith and main sponsor West Midlands Credit Union.

Several classes have been revamped this year, including the popular Cat and Dog classes.

A new attraction for 2026 is the Mountbellew Agricultural Show Scarecrow Competition, encouraging creativity, sustainability and community participation. The Field Scarecrow Competition will showcase entries made from recycled and repurposed materials in a dedicated Scarecrow Village, while the Fancy Dress Scarecrow Parade invites visitors to become scarecrows for the day. Prizes are sponsored by Derval Nutley of The Bus Stop, Mountbellew.

Children can enjoy the Children’s Corner and free pony rides, while the Fashion Show, Craft Fair and Mabel Colour Analysis Demonstration promise plenty of entertainment for visitors of all ages.

With something for everyone, Mountbellew Agricultural Show is set to be a wonderful celebration of agriculture, community and family fun.
