Uisce Éireann has said it is responding to a burst water main on the Headford Road in Galway city, which is impacting supply in the surrounding areas.
Households in Tirellan Heights, Sandyvale Lawn, Castlelawn Heights, and along the Headford Road from Claddagh Minerals to Tirellan Heights may be experiencing low pressure or supply disruptions as a result of this burst.
Those in Ballinfoyle Park, Cluain Riocard, Bothar an Choiste, Baile an Choiste, Sceilig Ard and Ballinfoyle Mews may also be impacted.
Uisce Éireann crews are currently on site working to isolate this significant burst and begin their repairs. Works are ongoing and are expected to be completed by 6pm.
Leo O’Shea of Uisce Éireann said crews are diverting available water supplies to minimise the outage area while repairs are being carried out.
“We are diverting supplies to ensure supply to the city," Mr O'Shea added. "However, some areas of the city may experience reduced pressure over the next few hours as a result of this burst.
“We acknowledge the impact of an unplanned outage for our customers, and we want to assure impacted residents and business owners that every effort is being made to restore normal supply as soon as possible.”
