The Volkswagen Transporter has been voted the 2026 Irish Van of the Year in association with Continental Tyres.
The award was voted on at a recent gala awards ceremony by a jury of 13 of Ireland's most experienced commercial vehicle journalists drawn from the Motoring Media Association of Ireland, including the Galway Advertiser's Eoin Cuttle. The annual Irish Van of the Year Award acknowledges productivity, safety, comfort and fuel efficiency in the latest commercial vehicle technologies.
The field of eligible models for this year’s Irish Van of the Year award were broken down into four categories and then the overall winner was drawn from those four winning models.
The category winners were the Jeep Avenger CDV for Car Derived Van of the Year, the Volkswagen e-Transporter/Ford E-Transit Custom for Electric Commercial of the Year, the Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial for 4×4 Commercial of the Year, and the Volkswagen Transporter for Panel Van of the Year.
In the Irish Car of the Year awards programme for 2026, the overall Irish Car of the Year title was awarded to the Renault 5 at the same event.
