An Ahascragh man who allegedly produced a knife in the course of a dispute has been sent forward for trial at the current sittings of Galway Circuit Criminal Court.
Nicholas Williams of Ballyvoneen, Ballinamore Bridge, Ahascragh is alleged to have produced the knife in the course of a dispute on November 10, 2024. He is also charged with having in his possession an article capable of inflicting serious injury in addition to being charged with a threat to kill.
Defending solicitor Gearóid Geraghty was informed of details of the Book of Evidence compiled by prosecuting Gardaí being made available to the defence.
Mr Geraghty asked Judge James Faughnan at Ballinasloe District Court that his client might be assigned a senior counsel when his case is heard in Galway. The Judge said he would consider the matter. It was also decided that an assault charge faced by Williams would stay in the District Court.
