Carlsberg thief will has to come up with compo in January

A MAN facing a series of charges ranging from criminal damage to a Garda’s private car to assault in a Headford pub and repeatedly stealing slabs of Carlsberg lager from supermarkets has been given until the January 22 sitting of Tuam District Court to come up with more compensation.

Judge James Faughnan was told Dylan Connolly, 53 Castleview, Headford faces assault charges arising out of an incident in Varley’s pub, Headford on February 11, 2025 when one James McDonagh was assaulted and of criminal damage to a car belonging to a Garda which was parked outside Headford Garda Station.

Olivia Moran solr (defending ) said that her client was pleading guilty to the offences and had already paid €1,000 in compensation towards damage totalling €2,700 to the Garda’s car.

Her client had received treatment in Cluain Mhuire for his addiction issues and was undergoing aftercare in that regard. He was working full-time.

Connolly also faces charges of stealing two slabs of Carlsberg from Tesco, Headford on October 23, 2024 to the value of €46, and on the following day of returning and stealing three slabs of Carlsberg from the same store to the value of €55.50. He is also accused of stealing more Carlsberg slabs from Tesco in Tuam.
