Knocknacarra U14 girls' team are appealing for support from the local community in its efforts to raise funds so that the squad can travel to Spain to take part in the Copa Daurada.
An international soccer tournament, the Copa Daurada 2026 is a five-day annual competition which takes place in Salou, Spain. The competition sees teams from all over the world take part and for Knocknacarra FC offers an opportunity to perform on the European stage.
The team have been invited to represent their community and club at the Copa Daurada 2025. They have asked for help from their community by setting up a GoFundme.
The tournament takes place in the holiday resort of Salou in Spain. The tournament venue is only about 100 kilometres away from the city of Barcelona and the tournament can therefore be optimally combined with a trip to the metropolis.
Their goal for their trip is €10,000. This will cover the cost of flights and transport, accommodation and meals, tournament registration, team kits and gear, insurance and supervision.
Every euro helps bring these girls closer to this incredible experience.
Organiser Declan Devaney believes that this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the girls to showcase their talent on a global stage.
"The girls have worked incredibly hard this season. Their dedication, sportsmanship and team spirit are second to none. Help us give them the chance to shine the international stage," he said.
