Thrilling bidding and record-breaking results marked last week's national livestream property auction by O’Donnellan & Joyce, with sales surging past €4 million in what auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan described as “one of the most exciting auctions we’ve seen in years.”

The auction, broadcast live with bidders competing online and by phone from across Ireland and abroad, saw more than 25 properties go under the hammer, including a remarkable portfolio of seven former state-owned buildings, one of the most significant releases to the open market in recent times.

Many lots soared beyond expectations, including:

? Sliabhan House, Ballintogher, Co Sligo – sold for €420,000.

? Hill House, Mountain View, Castlebar, Co Mayo – sold for €515,000.

Galway results steal the spotlight

Local buyers and investors were out in force, with several Galway lots achieving excellent outcomes:

? Former Garda station, Ballymoe, Co Galway – sold for €90,000.

? No 60 Main Street, Loughrea, Co Galway – sold for €420,000.

? Aughrim Health Centre, Aughrim, Co Galway – sold for €145,000.

? No 156 Castlelawn Heights, Headford Road, Galway – sold for €340,000.

? No 65 Cartur Mor, Clybaun Road, Knocknacarra, Galway – sold for €350,000.

? No 76 Woodfield, Galway Road, Tuam, Co Galway – sold for €224,000.

In Loughrea, the three-storey building at No 60 Main Street proved one of the day’s most hotly contested lots. Bidding quickly intensified, with multiple parties driving the price up to €420,000 before the hammer finally fell. The result highlights the strong demand for well-located town centre properties with potential for mixed-use or redevelopment.

Meanwhile, in Aughrim, a former health centre achieved a remarkable €145,000, reflecting investor appetite for former public buildings with scope for repurposing.

Auctioneer’s reaction

Auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan said the results show both the strength of the market and the power of the auction platform.

“We are absolutely thrilled with today’s results," he said. "Achieving over €4 million in sales in a single auction demonstrates both the depth of demand and the trust clients place in our platform. The strong prices secured, particularly for standout lots, underline the confidence in the market for both residential and commercial properties.”

The auction once again highlighted the strength of O’Donnellan & Joyce’s livestream format, which brings urgency, transparency, and accessibility to buyers nationwide and abroad.
