A US online fashion brand with its European office in Galway city has been nominated for three prestigous awards.

Rent the Runway, an online business that leases designer clothing to customers, has been shortlisted in three categories at the 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards.

The three award categories are ‘Innovation in Engineering’, ‘Software & Electrical Engineering Project of the Year’ and ‘Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Strategy of the Year’.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 23, in Dun Laoghaire, and will celebrate the transformative power of Irish engineering across diverse sectors.

“It is exciting to be recognised for innovation, for technical excellence, and for diversity and inclusion, as these categories reflect the values that drive our work every day,” said Ronan Conlon, RTR’s vice president for engineering, based in Galway. “We’re proud to see the Galway team’s impact celebrated on a national stage and are looking forward to the main event in October.”

Rent the Runway’s European Software and Technology Hub, based in the Claddagh, hosts a team tasked with tackling critical challenges in e-commerce innovation, system reliability, and inclusive workplace culture.

To support this expansion, the company is actively hiring for software engineering roles, including in quality and site reliability.
