Ford is continuing to ramp-up its electric vehicle line-up with the introduction of the Puma Gen-E, an all-electric version of one of the brand’s best-selling cars.
Now in Ford showrooms nationwide, the Puma Gen-E is powered by a 43kWh lithium-ion battery with a quoted range of up to 376km and efficiency of 13.1kWh/100km.
Ford says the Puma Gen-E has a DC charging speed of up to 100kW, meaning a 10-80 per cent top-up could take around 23 minutes. It has a 0-100km/h sprint time of eight seconds.
Irish pricing starts from €32,916 for the ‘Select’ trim and from €35,717 for the ‘Premium’ spec.
Externally the new Puma Gen-E keeps the same silhouette as its combustion counterpart, but gains a new so-called ‘shield’ design at the front which replaces the conventional grille, while a sporty rear spoiler and unique alloy wheels add to its improved aerodynamics.
Inside, the Puma Gen-E features two high-definition display screens, with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and ‘Alexa’ voice commands built-in. There is up 574-litres of boot space with the rear seats in place, a 43-litre frunk where the petrol engine once sat, and a raised centre console for more storage space.
The gear selector is located behind the steering wheel, while a 360-degree surround-view camera system is also available. Depending on trim, the Puma Gen-E is equipped with intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centring.
Optional dynamic matrix LED headlight technology uses predictive dynamic bending light to monitor the road ahead and shines light where it is needed most, and adjusts the beam pattern for the best view.
