Athenry AC’s rising star, Seán Doggett, delivered a superb performance at the European U20 Athletics Championships in Tampere, Finland, securing 7th place in the Men’s 400m Final with a time of 47.16.

Doggett had already impressed earlier in the competition, clocking a new lifetime best of 46.58 in the semi-final, a mark that placed him firmly in medal contention going into the final.

In a bold and determined run, he stayed in touch with the leaders through the opening stages before finishing strongly to claim a top-eight spot on the continental stage.

The 400m title was won by fellow Team Ireland athlete Conor Kelly of Finn Valley AC, capping a proud day for Irish sprinting.

Still only at the start of his senior athletics journey, Seán’s performance highlights his enormous potential and marks him as one to watch for the future. Athenry AC is immensely proud of his achievements and the dedication he has shown to reach this level of competition.
