Galway is set to host a world title fight when Kinvara kickboxer Cian McCormack takes on a Dutch opponent for the IKF Super Welterweight World K-1 crown.

McCormack, who fights of the Black Dragon Kickboxing Club, will face Gianno Zwaagman from the world famous Team Van Den Berg Gym in Almere near Amsterdam.

The fight will take place on November 27 in The Ardilaun Hotel, Taylor’s Hill in Galway.

Pete Foley of the Black Dragon Kickboxing Club says the fight has been given the go ahead this week from the IKF HQ in California.

The exciting undercard will see 12 fighters from Malta taking on a select Irish team of twelve, of which nine are from the Galway Black Dragon Gym.

A reciprocal agreement will see an Irish squad jet out to Malta next year.
