Woman threatens to slash garda’s face

A woman who threatened a garda that she would slash her face is to pay her €200 compensation.

Garda Lindsay Quinlan was escorting a male prisoner to hospital from Mullingar Garda station on May 21 this year when his female partner verbally attacked her.

“I’ll f**k your face up with a blade,” Paula Fitzsimons, 3 Foster Place, Ballybough in Dublin said aggressively and refused to leave the area despite being asked a number of times.

Inspector Jarlath Folan said the mother of two, who has four previous convictions, was very uncooperative with gardai in the station afterwards.

Ms Patricia Cronin said her 28-year-old client is no longer with the man gardaí were dealing with.

The father of her children died three years ago and she spiralled into alcohol and heroin abuse but is now doing well.

The money is to be paid to Garda Quinlan by October 13.
