Moate Children’s Choir are continuing the strong choral tradition of their home town, singing their way to a national title at the ESB Feis Ceoil. The 30-strong choir from Moate are walking on air after scooping first prize in the Junior Choirs category of the national competition which took place last Wednesday March 18 at the RDS in Dublin.

Athlone Castle invites you to explore the castle this Easter

Athlone Castle Visitor Centre has an egg-citing event coming up on Easter Sunday April 5. From 12.30-2.30pm all Easter bunnies are invited to take part in the Athlone Castle Easter Treasure Hunt.

Mary Bannon from Athlone Castle Visitor Centre said: “We are looking forward to welcoming families over the Easter break, particularly for the treasure hunt. We are encouraging children to bring their explorer and detective skills to Athlone Castle on Easter Sunday. We have planned a treasure trail with clues to help you find hidden objects throughout the castle visitor exhibition areas and courtyard. It promises to be a fun afternoon for everyone with lots of hands-on activities and dress-up areas and our Easter Bunny will be giving out chocolate eggs to every child who completes the treasure hunt.”
